DeepSeek V3-0324 Released. JD Vance Fake AI? Zapier Makes MCP Simple. 3D Scene Creator From Meta.
AI News March 24.
DeepSeek tries to have another DeepSeek moment AI causes a stir in US politics Zapier launches its own MCP service and Meta previews a VR ready 3D scene creator here's today's AI news. As anticipated, DeepSeek has released its new V3 model in March.
[00:16.0]
It's a huge 700 gigabyte model and of course it's open source. It's already available on platforms like Hugging Face and Open Router and users are busy putting it through its paces to see just how much of a step up it represents. Because the expectations are already somewhat set, it's unlikely to have the same kind of explosive impact that DeepSeek R2 had.
[00:35.4]
However, it's still looking like it will be a challenger to all of the most capable models, except you get it for free. If it is comparable to the premium models, then it will keep the immense pressure up on the big players and Deepseek will maintain its disruptive reputation.
[00:53.9]
It's inevitable AI will increasingly play a major role in the political theatre. Social media posts have been circulating of an audio clip that is said to be US Vice President JD Vance criticising Elon Musk. However, many people that have analysed the clip have claimed that it is fake and has been generated by AI.
[01:11.2]
Regardless of the reality of these clips, they highlight an obvious truth that it's increasingly difficult to believe anything you might hear and almost as difficult to believe anything that you might see. The Model Context Protocol or MCP has been getting everyone very excited because of its adoption by many services and its potential to become a new standard for AI tool integration.
[01:32.5]
Today, Zapier got in on the action by announcing Zapier MCP that they claim will allow you to integrate more than 8,000 different services into your favourite AI assistant like Cursor or Windsurf. Finally, Meta released a new paper for a model that can create complete 3D scenes from a single image.
[01:51.0]
These images are then ready to be used in virtual reality. This is a very intriguing model that seems to be producing some great results and it could be a huge labour saving device for creating VR scenes.
