The Solemnity of The Annunciation

Today, we celebrate the Annunciation, the moment when the Word became flesh in Mary’s womb. While we focus on Mary’s “yes” to God, this is the feast of the Incarnation, the moment salvation was set in motion.

Mary’s fiat was essential. Without her willingness to embrace God’s will, we wouldn’t have Jesus or salvation. Though she couldn’t comprehend the miracle, she trusted the angel’s words: “For nothing will be impossible with God.” This faith is what we should imitate.

There is no salvation apart from Jesus Christ. In a world seeking compromise, we must hold firm to His reality as the only way to the Father. As we reflect on this mystery, let us stand with Mary in faith and surrender, proclaiming with her: “Behold, the handmaid of the Lord; be it done unto me according to thy word.”
