A brilliant but emotionally detached scientist, Eric Plummer, strikes a dangerous bargain with an alien named Ikar—exchanging his emotions for advanced scientific knowledge. As Plummer’s cold intellect grows, he becomes increasingly indifferent to those around him, including his fiancée, Janet. However, when Ikar’s true intentions for Earth are revealed, Plummer must confront the consequences of his deal.
