"Keeper of the Purple Twilight"
A brilliant but emotionally detached scientist, Eric Plummer, strikes a dangerous bargain with an alien named Ikar—exchanging his emotions for advanced scientific knowledge. As Plummer’s cold intellect grows, he becomes increasingly indifferent to those around him, including his fiancée, Janet.
