I know that they were dropped off at the ban field because they were instructed not to bring them home.

And maddie wanted to dart her way home.Anyway, I believe that's where she got grabbed over there by the fire hydrant, and she slipped out of that jacket and was trying to dart back home, and both also then chased back down into that alleyway.

That incident may have been an accident, but they now had no choice but to take her out, including, possibly if she's not being hidden by Steve g. Kaylee.
