Dekhti Aankhooon aur sountay kaanoon ko Asslamoalaikum, sisters, brothers friends and elders, in informative series videos of Islamic ascolars, sufisaints, cultural heritages, islamic philosophys, islamic mysticisms and historical figures. today we are describing biography of Najm al-Din al-Razi and the history of his shrine.
Najm al-Din al-Razi, also known as Najm al-Din Daya, was a prominent 13th-century Persian Sufi mystic, philosopher, and poet. Born in 1177 in the Persian city of Rayy, he significantly influenced Islamic Sufism during his time.
Razi's early life in Rayy, an important cultural and intellectual center, exposed him to various religious and philosophical ideas. This environment nurtured his spiritual tendencies and drew him towards Sufism. He became a disciple of Najm al-Din Kubra, the founder of the Kubraviya Sufi order in Khwarezm. Under Kubra's guidance, Razi delved deeply into Sufi practices and teachings. Kubra appointed Sheikh Majid al-Din Baghdadi as Razi's spiritual mentor, under whom Razi received rigorous spiritual training.
The Mongol invasion of Khwarezm in 1219 prompted Razi to flee to the West, following Kubra's advice. His journey took him through Herat, Hamadan, and Ardabil to Anatolia, where he settled. ?
In Anatolia, Razi continued his spiritual mission, spreading Sufi teachings and engaging with fellow mystics. During this period, he wrote his seminal work, "Marsad al-Ibad al-Mubda'al al-Ma'ad" ("The Path of the Servants of God: From Origin to Return") in Persian. The text offers profound insights into Sufi metaphysics, ethics, and cosmology, guiding seekers on the spiritual path.
Razi's literary contributions extend beyond "Marsad al-Ibad". He wrote "Marmiz?t-i Asd? dar Mizm?rat-i D?w?d?" ("Asd?'s Symbolic Impressions on the Psalms of David"), which sheds light on symbolic interpretations of religious texts. Additionally, he authored the Arabic version of "Minarat al-Saghirayn al-Ummah Allah wa Maqam al-Ta'irin bi Allah" ("The Tower of Light for Those Traveling to God and the Station of Those Walking with God"), "Marsad," and "Tafsir." A Sufi commentary on the Quran. ?
The exact date and place of Razi's death are the subject of scholarly debate. While some sources indicate that he died in 1256, others state 1247.
Regarding his mausoleum, there is limited information available about its exact location or existence. Given the uncertainty surrounding the location of his death, it is possible that his burial place, if established, may have been in Anatolia. However, without solid historical records, the details of his mausoleum are unclear.
Najm al-Din Razi's legacy is established through his profound writings and contributions to Sufi thought. His works continue to inspire scholars and spiritual seekers, richly reflecting Islamic mysticism and Persian literary heritage.
With this, we seek your permission until tomorrow, tomorrow we will describe the biography of Najm al-Din Kubra and the history of his Shrine.
