Heat Sinks
45
Heat sinks work by conducting heat away from a hot component, like a CPU or power transistor, and dissipating it into the surrounding air.
They’re usually made from materials with high thermal conductivity like aluminum or copper.
The fins increase surface area, allowing more efficient heat transfer via convection.
As air flows over the fins—either passively or with a fan—the heat is carried away, preventing thermal buildup and keeping the device within safe operating temperatures.
