From Surfer to First Responder to Navy Seal | Michael's Recovery from PTSD and Substance Abuse

Michael Branche began his career as a California Highway Patrol Officer. He then worked as a combination Police Officer, Firefighter, and Medic at one of the only departments that trains in all three disciplines. Eventually he fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming a Navy Seal, where at the age of 27 he completed foreign operations in several countries. As a result of his wartime service, Michael was diagnosed with PTSD and Substance Use Disorder. Through the strength of his marriage, as well as his own personal resilience, he sought the help he needed. After recovery, he decided to give back by attending the University of Southern California's prestigious military social work program where he trained to be an addictions counselor specializing in treating Post-traumatic Stress. Michael has worked for several non-profits and he now works treating post-traumatic stress in first responders.
