The Dual Purpose of the Law

In Luke 7, Jesus provides us a parable about understanding forgiveness. In conversation with a pharisee who gets the point, he makes the point that people who understand that they’ve been forgiven for more literally love the forgiver more than people forgiven only a little. His point is illustrated by a woman’s demonstration of love and respect toward him. How can God’s law actually help us to understand grace more? To love God more who has given us such grace?
