Why do Intelligent People Deny the Reality of Global Warming?

Millions of intelligent people all over the world deny the scientifically proven dangers of global warming, to the future survival of humankind on earth. Why? The human mind is brilliant, but also susceptible to "short-circuiting" and suffering a "mental breakdown" when overwhelmed with fear. Consequently, it will naturally avoid confronting such trauma by unconsciously using the phenomenon Sigmund Freud labeled "defense mechanisms"; such as "Denial" and "Reaction Formation." For example, former vice-president Kamala Harris's cackling in laughter when asked questions is an example of Reaction Formation. Or as Voltaire advised, "Laugh at life, or you will go mad." Moreover, your dog does not possess the complex mind of a human; consequently, its mind is not blinded by Denial, which is why it is overwhelmed with joy when you return home alive. Instinctively, it understands that every time you live the house, you could die and leave it alone forever. When Aesop wrote the fable of "The Ant and the Grasshopper," over 2000 years ago, he explained the human struggle that has always existed between man's internal, instinctive hedonism and his environment. In 2025, that struggle has now become one of life or death of the human race. When Albert Einstein warned, "We will require a whole new manner of thinking if humankind is to survive," he was right.
