SCRIPTURE READING FOR TODAY
Gen 33:17-20

17 Jacob, on the other hand, traveled on to Succoth. There he built himself a house and made shelters for his livestock. That is why the place was named Succoth (which means “shelters”).
18 Later, having traveled all the way from Paddan-aram, Jacob arrived safely at the town of Shechem, in the land of Canaan. There he set up camp outside the town.
19 Jacob bought the plot of land where he camped from the family of Hamor, the father of Shechem, for 100 pieces of silver.
20 And there he built an altar and named it El-Elohe-Israel.

The Word of God To Meditate On Today
Gen 33:17-20 - Jacob Avoided Esau By All Means

When they separate, Jacob invents another trick to escape a new meeting with Esau. He goes to Sukkoth, near Shechem, to live in a house. This is not what the LORD said to him, it is not Bethel. And who said to him that he should buy a property? And did God not tell him to build an altar in Bethel? In vs 14, Jacob promised to meet Esau in Mount Seir, instead he settled in Succoth. Besides, Jacob is seen pursuing his own will rather than the Lord's. We also can well camouflage our wrong way and actions with the use of pious language. We say we do something in the Name of the Lord, but it is only to pursue our own will. In the next chapter, the consequences of Jacob’s way will be made public. When we choose our own way, we need to defend ourselves, because we have gone outside of God's radar.

14 Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir.

Personal Supplication
Father, help me live in absolute obedience to every instruction from You in Jesus' name! Ps 119:17

17 Deal bountifully with Your servant, that I may live; and I will observe Your word [hearing, receiving, loving, and obeying it]. [Ps. 119:97-101.]

Weekly Protection Covenant Declaration
Because I dwell in the secret place of the most High, I Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: My God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver me from the snare of the fowler, And from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover me with his feathers, And under his wings shalt I trust: His truth shall be my shield and buckler. I shall not be afraid for the terror by night; Nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness; Nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, And ten thousand at thy right hand; But it shall not come nigh thee throughout this week in Jesus' name!

Only with my eyes shalt I behold And see the wicked receive their rewards. Because I have made the LORD, my refuge, Even the most High, my habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, Neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For God shall give his angels charge over thee, To keep thee in all my ways. They shall bear me up in their hands, Lest I dash thy foot against a stone. I shall tread upon the lion and adder: The young lion and the dragon shalt I trample under feet. Because I have set my love upon God, therefore will He deliver me: He will set him on high, because I have known His name. I shall call upon Him, and He will answer me: He will be with me in trouble; He will deliver me, and honour me. With long life will God satisfy me, And shew me His salvation. So shall it be for me and my household throughout this week in Jesus' name!

JESUS IS LORD!
