Gain-of-Function Research Allows a Few to Harm Millions

03/26/2025 Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong: Some people bypassed the U.S. ban and conducted gain-of-function experiments at the Wuhan virus lab, stabilizing the spike protein structure and making a virus that originally only infected bats capable of infecting humans. They then used the stabilized spike protein to create an mRNA vaccine. Such gain-of-function experiments allow a few individuals to inflict tremendous harm on countless people.
