Why is the AI Expert plan always Authoritarian? - Reaction to Max Tegmark on ‪@trajectoryai‬

Apologies to Daniel and Max for the distortions of their pictures in the thumbnail- in my defense, it was 100% AI generated (shoutout to OpenAI's new image model).

At the end of the day, I don't know whether 'AI maximalism' will lead to a better outcome for humans than AI Safetyism. But since I'm gambling either way, I'd MUCH rather bet on a paradigm of freedom (open source), transparency, and 'AI for everyone', than the B.S. 'we just have to pause for 5-10 years' arguments that Max proposes here.

More Intelligence has always been a blessing for societies. Intelligence is presumably what qualifies Max to speak on the topic. So why should I trust him or others more intelligent than myself, when they tell me I can't have access to even greater intelligences than them?

Seems self-serving, no?
