A down-on-his-luck gambler named Fred Renard crosses paths with an elderly street vendor who mysteriously provides people with exactly what they need at the right moment. Seeing an opportunity for personal gain, Fred demands more and more, driven by greed rather than gratitude. However, he soon learns that fate has a way of balancing the scales.
