"TERENCE CRAWFORD'S LEGACY: WEAK OPPONENTS, BIG CONSEQUENCES"

Terence Crawford says he doesn’t think former unified three-belt welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. will make it to the Hall of Fame with the wins he has on his 13-year professional resume. Crawford says that Spence’s win over former welterweight champion Kell Brook came after the British fighter had suffered an eye injury in his previous fight against Gennadiy Golovkin. Other than Kell, Errol’s best win was against Shawn Porter in 2019. Crawford feels that with the little that Spence has done in terms of big names and only fighting at 147, it’s not enough to get to the Hall of Fame. THE IRONY Interestingly, Crawford is basically tearing down his best career win because Spence is by far the #1 win in his 17-year career. Other than Errol, Bud’s next good victory was over the 11-fight novice Israil Madrimov, who had very little experience as a pro when Crawford fought in in 2024. Madrimov came close to beating him. Some fans believe Crawford fled from the 154-lb division after his close call with Madrimov, not wanting to mix it with the killers that would expose him. Vergil Ortiz Jr. did a far better job defeating Madrimov than Crawford did in his recent victory. That fight showed that the Nebraska native isn’t what fans think he is. He’s an example of how watered down the weight classes are, which allows fighters like him to move among them in a vulture-esque manner, picking off vulnerable prey to create an artificial record.
