Lobby, Basement and Subway Explosions on 9/11

On 9/11 there testimonies about explosions much lower down in the Twin Towers, such as in the lobby, on basement floors below ground level, and in the subway.

- "All you had to do was look around, it was obvious, something had happened right there in the lobby."

- "You just saw that all of the windows were blown out. The lobby looked like the plane hit the lobby."

- "I think a bomb went off in the lobby first, then a plane hit the building, then another plane hit the other building."

- "I don't know where the subway is but it sounded like a subway collision, a bomb, it was just pounding, boom, boom, boom, I literally thought the subway had exploded."

- "I was in the PATH train and there was a huge explosion sound, and everyone came out."

- "At the time, I was actually in the subway, heading toward the WTC, and after the first explosion the subway station started to fill with smoke."

- "I was down in the basement, I came down and all of a sudden the elevator blew up, there was smoke, I dragged a guy out, his skin was hanging off."

- "I was on the B4 Level (4th basement level below ground), there was a big blast with a big ball of fire, and it hit me right back down on the ground."

- "There was an explosion, we were on the support floor, which is the basement, a guy came in running, all his skin was out of his body."

- "And all of a sudden we heard boom!, I thought it was a generator that blew up in the basement...then I heard boom! right on the top [of the tower], pretty far away, so it was a difference between coming from the basement and coming from the top."

- "And as we were coming out we passed the lobby, there was no lobby, so I believe the bomb hit the lobby first, then in a couple of seconds the first plane hit."

- "I go downstairs (4 stories below ground) and that's when I got blown, I mean, the impact of the explosion, of whatever happened, it threw me to the floor. I know people that got killed in the basement, I know people who got broken legs in the basement."
