Tireside Chat Vol. 4: Ad Hominem Attacks from People who don’t Deal in Reality

In today’s Tireside Chat, I address the use of logical fallacies during debates over hotly contested topics, especially ad hominem character attacks.

Ad hominem is from the Latin “against the man,” and is often employed as an emotional reaction by a person or group who has lost a debate and therefore must attempt to discredit the character of the messenger instead of dealing directly with the content of their message itself.

This phenomenon has increased exponentially since the rise of the Trump effect throughout western culture and his administration’s policies against wokeness.
