Gospel singer and Pastor Marvin Sapp is in hot water. Last week, a video clip went viral of the "Never Would have Made It!" singer asking his congregation for $40,000. He also ordered his ushers to "Close the Doors" before he could make the request for the money.

The video footage was taken from July 2024 at Pentecostal Assemblies of the World Convention in Baltimore. As the video went viral, a few people came to Mr. Sapp's defense, one being radio personality and comedian Rickey Smiley. Sapp would also respond claiming that “This has been misinterpreted as holding people hostage as well as offensive. That was never my intent,” he wrote.

“Some have taken issue with a particular moment when I instructed the ushers, rather firmly, to close the doors during the offering,”
