Video 9: MPD – When Worlds Collide: Physicists vs. Mermaids in the Classroom

In this video, we will look at three types of cultural clashes – Factual, Opinion, and Moral. How do we resolve these three types of debates?

We will look at some historical debates in physics which show how conflicts arise over conflicting ideas. Some ideas must wait for technology to develop before they can be resolved. We will look at a fantasy belief (Mermaids) vs. a scientific belief (Multiverse theory) to see their similarities. And, finally, we will look at fundamental moral debates and why it is not always possible to resolve them.

At the end of this video there will be a brief update on the Memory Palace (see below) and a clarification of the Rule of 3 from the last video (Video 8: The Education Crisis).
