So turns out, there is only one country where the iPhone 16 is illegal. It's not North Korea, Russia, or China, but Indonesia. A country that used to buy 2 million of iPhones every year. Well that was until...

Turns out this is the result of a high powered negotiation, gone wrong. It started with a demand that Apple sources 40% of the iPhone's raw materials from Indonesia.

Apple didn't do that. So the $3 trillion dollar company offered $10 million dollars. Indonesia said no. Then Apple raised to $100 million... but still no.
Now Apple's offering $1 billion dollars.

So Indonesia's thinking about it. In the meantime, iPhone smugglers have entered the country. If they're caught "dealing" they face fines and confiscation. But if you're caught using, you're okay as long as you subscribe.
