WEAK Projections for Thunderbolts* | Marvel Can’t Catch a Break

Early box office projections for Thunderbolts* have it bringing in less during its opening weekend than Captain America: Brave New World.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe, MCU, has been struggling at the box office these last couple of years and it doesn’t look like Thunderbolts* is going to save them, at least not in a huge way. Given the relatively modest budget, it’s possible Thunderbolts* could make some money for Disney assuming the film has good word-of-mouth. Marvel has also stepped out of their comfort zone with the marketing of the movie, trying to present it as an indie movie in order to capture audiences more interested in that instead of the latest CGI film superhero movie.
