Releasing Favor

In the sermon “Releasing Favor,” we focus on how surrendering our all to Jesus and operating in obedience can unlock God’s abundant blessings in our lives. The foundation of this message is based on the principle that everything we have belongs to God. As 1 Timothy 6:7 reminds us, “for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world.” Thus, our giving should be an act of faith and joy, as 2 Corinthians 9:7 tells us that God loves a cheerful giver.

Delighting in the Lord, as instructed in Malachi 3:8-12, is key to releasing favor. When we honor God with our tithes and offerings, we invite His blessings into our lives, just as He promises to open the windows of heaven and rebuke the devourer for our sake. This principle is echoed in the story of Abel in Genesis 4:4, whose generous offering was regarded by God.

Operating under obedience is also vital. Jesus highlights the value of sacrificial giving in Mark 12:41-43 when He commends the poor widow who gave all she had. Acts 20:35 reminds us that it is more blessed to give than to receive.

However, there are hindrances to releasing favor, such as laziness (James 2:26), unfulfilled obligations (Psalm 37:21), and lack of submission (Proverbs 22:4). By overcoming these barriers and embracing a heart of generosity, we open ourselves to God’s favor, bringing blessings not only to ourselves but also to those around us.
