Location: Business near Georgia Hwy 400 and Hubbard Town Road

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a male suspect attempting to use a stolen credit card to purchase $12,000 worth of landscape equipment. The suspect, later identified as Edward Belle of Alabama, fled the scene in a Dodge Ram upon noticing law enforcement's arrival.

Belle drove erratically, nearly colliding with a patrol car, and fled southbound on GA Hwy 400. While evading authorities, he struck another vehicle near the Settingdown Road intersection, causing property damage but no injuries. Continuing his escape with a flat tire, Belle was intercepted by deputies less than a mile from the business. A tire deflation device deployed by law enforcement flattened a second tire.

Despite the damage to his vehicle, Belle proceeded south on GA 400 until he lost control near Browns Bridge Road. The Dodge Ram rolled over and struck two vehicles at a traffic light, resulting in one driver reporting injuries.

Belle abandoned the crash site and fled on foot into nearby woods near Browns Bridge Church. After an extensive search involving over a dozen deputies, a drone unit, and an FCSO K9 team, Belle was apprehended.

Edward Belle is currently held at the Forsyth County Jail facing multiple charges, including:
Identity Theft: Identify Theft, Forgery in The First Degree, Criminal Attempt to Commit a Felony, Criminal Attempt to Commit A Theft, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, Disregard for Traffic Control Device, Felony Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, Failure to use Seatbelt, Improper Erratic Lane Change, Driving in a Gore or Median, Tire Requirements, Three counts of Hit and Run, Party to a Crime, and Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer.

Belle also had an outstanding warrant from Alabama for Failure to Appear for Robbery. The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division is continuing the investigation, and additional charges may be filed.
