And also whether the internal difficulties Xi Jinping is facing preclude him from taking that highly risky step or make it more likely.

Threats to democracy, when it turns out the results of democracy, or the expected results of democratic elections, are unacceptable to the establishment parties. And they wind up snuffing their opposition; most recently, Marine Le Pen in France seems to have met such a fate. We also discussed Islamism and Sharia supremacism as a force to be reckoned with, notably in the United Kingdom as it looks now to define and enforce laws against so-called Islamophobia.
