The Middleman is an American TV series that aired for one season in 2008 on ABC Family. Based on the Viper Comics series by Javier Grillo-Marxuach and Les McClaine, it follows Wendy Watson, a struggling artist recruited by a secret agency to combat evil forces alongside the Middleman, a freelance fixer of "exotic problems" like mad scientists, hostile aliens, and supernatural threats. Assisted by Ida, a robot disguised as a grumpy schoolmarm, Wendy balances her adventures with her personal life, including her friendship with Lacey, her photogenic, animal-activist roommate, and neighbor Noser. Originally set for 13 episodes, the season was cut to 12 due to low ratings.
