Rhode Island Officers find almost 400k in drugs for simple traffic stop

On March 27, police arrested 21-year-old Teddy Lopez after officers allegedly found drugs inside his vehicle during a traffic stop, which he was initially pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt.

A search of the vehicle allegedly found 11 kilograms of cocaine hidden inside a compartment along with fentanyl, marijuana, and $1700.

“In a city environment to seize 11 kilos at a traffic stop, It’s highly unusual,” Cranston Police Department Colonel Michael Winquist said.
