🔍 Episode Overview:
For traffic officers, self-entitled drivers are a common challenge to deal with, but this case went further than usual. On May 17th, 2022, St. Petersburg Police in Florida flagged 26-year-old Shelby Coniglio for possible impairment. Instead of cooperating, she tried to use her position as a fellow officer.
Encountering inebriated drivers is all too common for patrol officers, but what if the driver was a fellow officer? This was the case in Florida for 29-year-old Orange County deputy John Guzman, caught in a compromising situation by St. Cloud Police on October 15th, 2022.
Regardless of who the suspect is, an officer must uphold the law. In Key Largo, Florida, on June 12th, 2022, a Monroe County deputy did just that, pulling over 26-year-old Donovan Rojas, an off-duty officer violating traffic laws. Despite Rojas’s resistance, the deputy held him accountable.
The police often remind the public to stay away from the wheel after a couple of drinks. But what happens when an officer breaks that rule? On July 2nd, 2023, Officer Orlando Gonzales of the Secaucus Police Department in New Jersey faced that exact situation - a fellow officer, tipsy and defiant. Watch as Officer Gonzales holds a fellow off duty cop accountable for his actions.
Law enforcers, whether on or off duty, are held to the highest standards of behavior. However, on January 24th, 2024, Albuquerque Police in New Mexico had to address the troubling actions of a fellow officer, reminding him of the standards expected even while off duty.
