​The 129th Boston Marathon is scheduled for Monday, April 21, 2025, coinciding with Patriots' Day, a state holiday in Massachusetts. This prestigious event is part of the World Marathon Majors, attracting runners and spectators from around the globe.​

Registration and Qualification:

Registration for the 2025 Boston Marathon took place from September 9 to September 13, 2024. Due to a significant increase in applications, the qualifying standards were notably stringent. Applicants needed to surpass their age and gender-specific qualifying times by at least 6 minutes and 51 seconds to secure entry. Out of 36,393 applications, 24,069 qualified runners were accepted, leaving approximately 12,000 qualifiers without entry due to capacity constraints.

Elite Competitors:

The 2025 race will feature top athletes, including Kenyan runner Hellen Obiri, aiming for her third consecutive Boston Marathon victory. In the men's division, Ethiopian Sisay Lemma will defend his title against strong contenders like two-time winner Evans Chebet and 2024 Chicago champion John Korir.
