May 25, 1965 - Heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali and Sonny Liston, an outwardly confident challenger seeking redemption for his sorry showing 15 months ago, clash tonight for the world championship.
The once-awesome Liston was a 7-1 favorite in the Miami Beach fight which ended when Sonny bowed out after six rounds with an alleged injury to his left bicep. He is favored in tonight’s bout as well, but the margin is a slender 5½-6½ in the betting spread, 6-5 man-to-man.
