LSG beat MI by 12 runs in the 16th match of IPL-25

The 16th Match of Men’s Tata IPL-2025 was played between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium Lucknow on 4th April, 2025. In this match Lucknow Super Giants defeated Mumbai Indians by 12 runs. In this match Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bowl first.
Lucknow Super Giants while batting first scored 203 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs and gave target of 204 runs to Mumbai Indians to win. In reply Mumbai Indians managed to score 191 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs and loss the match by 12 runs.
While batting first Lucknow Super Giants started very well and added 76 runs in 6.6 overs. Mitchell Marsh was first to go out in the seventh over of the match caught and bold by Vignesh Puthur. Mitchell Marsh batted superbly and scored quickfire 60 runs from 31 balls hitting 9 fours and 2 sixes.
Then Hardik Pandya removed in frorm Nicholas Pooran caught by Deepak Chahar after scoring 12 runs from 6 balls hitting 1 four and one six. Rishabh Pant failed again in this match and made only 2 runs from 6 balls. Pant was caught by substitute Corbin Bosch of the bowling of Hardik Pandya.
Then Aiden Markram with Ayush Badoni added 51 runs from 31 balls for the fourth wicket and somehow consolidated the innings.
Ayush Badoni scored 30 runs from 19 balls hitting 4 fours and was removed by Ashwani Kumar caught by Ryan Rickelton.
Aiden Markram played a gem of innings of 53 runs from 38 balls hitting 2 fours and 4 sixes. Hardik Pandya took the wicket of Aiden Markram caught by Raj Bawa.David Miller contributed 27 runs from 14 balls hitting 3 fours and one six.
Hardik Panduya took the wicket of Miller caught by Naman Dhir. Abdul Samad scored 4 runs only.Hardik Pandya took his fifth wicket of the match of Akash Deep caught by Mitchell Santnar who went without scoring.
Shradul Thakur remined not out on 5 runs.Hardik Pandya bowled well and took 5 wickets for the first time in his T-20 career.One wicket each was taken by Trent Boult, Ashwani Kumar and Vignesh Puthur. LSG scored huge total of 203 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs.
In reply MI made 191 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs and loss the match by 12 runs. MI started very poorly and were reeling at 17 for 2 wickets in 2.2 overs. Will Jacks was first to go out caught by Ravi Bishnoi of the bowling of Akash Deep scoring 5 runs from 7 balls.
Then Shradul Thakur took the wicket of Riyan Rickelton caught by Ravi Bishnoi and scored 10 runs. Naman Dhir played a gem of innings of 46 runs from 24 balls hitting 4 fours and 3 sixes. Surya Kumar Yadav top scored with 67 runs from 43 balls hitting 9 fours and 1 six.Tilak Verma was forcibly retired out after making 25 runs from 23 balls hitting only 2 fours.
Hardik Pandya remained not out on 28 runs with Mitchell Santner also not out on 2 runs. MI could score only 191 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs and loss the match by 12 runs.
For LSG all the bowlers bowled well and one wicket each was taken by Shradul Thakur,Akash Deep, Avesh Khan. Digvesh Singh Rathi bowled well and gave only 21 runs in 4 overs and took one wicket also.He was adjudged the Player of the Match for this performance.
