Do What You're Told OR ELSE!! Why people fall for lies?
Throughout history, film has played a significant role in shaping public perception, often influencing people to accept and obey ideas without questioning their validity. Hollywood, for instance, has a long history of pushing narratives that align with political or corporate interests, conditioning audiences to accept certain ideologies as truth. Many films subtly (or overtly) reinforce stereotypes, promote fear, or normalize destructive behaviors, all while being consumed as mere entertainment. Audiences, entranced by spectacle and emotion, rarely stop to question whether they are being manipulated. Instead, they blindly embrace the messages presented to them, allowing filmmakers with agendas to shape their worldview without resistance.
In music, the influence is even more powerful, as it bypasses logic and directly impacts emotions. The music industry has historically promoted artists and trends that serve corporate interests, often at the expense of authenticity and artistic freedom. Pop culture icons rise to fame not necessarily because of talent or originality, but because they fit a mold that reinforces certain behaviors or ideals—excess, hedonism, or materialism, for example. Listeners, caught up in catchy melodies and rhythms, internalize these messages without ever stopping to consider who is benefiting from their blind loyalty. Lyrics that glorify self-destruction, superficiality, and conformity become anthems, while independent and thought-provoking artists struggle to gain a platform.
Wellness, a field meant to promote health and well-being, has also fallen victim to mass obedience without scrutiny. The rise of trendy diets, pseudoscientific health claims, and expensive "miracle" products demonstrates how easily people are controlled by marketing rather than science. Many wellness influencers, despite lacking medical expertise, amass massive followings by selling an image of health that is often unattainable or even harmful. People follow these trends without asking critical questions, assuming that popularity equates to credibility. Meanwhile, real, science-backed health solutions are often ignored in favor of flashy fads that generate profit for those in control. The cycle continues, as people remain caught in a web of influence, trusting voices that often have hidden agendas.
