Americans Scammed by Fraudsters in Russia: Why Do They Still Want to Live Here?

Leo and Chantelle Hare moved to Russia from Texas about a year ago with their three teenage sons in search of a better future.🇺🇸➡️🇷🇺 Although they had a small but successful business and their own home back in the States, their life was quite comfortable.🏡

The idea to move to Russia came from one of their sons. At first, the family was, to put it mildly, surprised by this idea.😮However, the Hares are followers of traditional Christian values, ✝️ and the modern LGBTQ+ agenda in the U.S. was unbearable for them. The fact that children could undergo gender transition surgeries without parental consent shocked them even more. This is why they chose Russia, a country that upholds traditional moral standards. The family head now says, "We are moral refugees." 🇷🇺

Unfortunately, this story, full of great hopes, takes a very unpleasant turn. Scammers convinced Leo and Chantelle to give them 5 million rubles (about $50,000) 💵 with promises of high returns and assured them that they could get their money back whenever they wanted. The family intended to use this money to buy a new home in Russia. 🏠 However, it turned out that no one intended to return the money. The Hares are currently trying to seek justice through the police.

Despite this challenging situation, the Hares remain committed to their decision to live in Russia.💪 They plan to apply for temporary residency, and in the future, they aim to obtain Russian citizenship. 🇷🇺
