All Things Spiritual-In Revelation 18

In Revelation 18:1, a powerful angel descends from heaven, revealing the destruction of Babylon. The angel cries out, "Babylonia the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird." All nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her. The merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. Another voice from heaven warns the people not to partakers of her sins and receive her plagues. The angel's light illuminates the truth of Babylon's impending doom, echoes the Old Testament announcement of pagan Babylon's fall, and emphasizes the finality and certainty of her destruction. The image of Babylon becoming a dwelling place of demons and a haunt for every impure spirit, bird, and detestable beast is derived from Isaiah 21:9.
