Stars, researchers address science funding at Breakthrough Awards

The annual Breakthrough Awards, dubbed "The Oscars of Science," took place in Santa Monica on Saturday (April 5) with A-list celebrities and billionaires in attendance. While the event celebrates scientists who have developed breakthroughs in their fields, the successes this year were overshadowed by actions made by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump. Actors Glen Close and Danny DeVito along with Stephen Hauser, the Laureate for life sciences, spoke about the importance of science funding at the event.
