Readings: Jeremiah 31:31-34 (first reading), Psalm 51:3-4, 12-15, Hebrews 5:7-9 (second reading), John 12:20-33 (Gospel) – Fifth Sunday of Lent (Year B), per USCCB.

“O Jesus, today’s Gospel heralds Thy hour—‘Unless a grain falls and dies, it remains alone.’ Bishop Sheen exulted, ‘Thy Cross, O Lord, is the seed of glory!’ Jeremiah promises a new covenant, written on hearts by Thy merciful hand. St. Charbel guides us to die with Thee, as Gibran muses, ‘The husk breaks to free the dawn.’ The Lord saith, ‘When I am lifted up, I draw all men’—His death births life eternal. On this Sunday, let one selfish want fall—offer it in prayer—and rise in Him. Thy sacrifice, O Lord, turns earth’s dust to heaven’s harvest.”
