Sal shares her thoughts from the saddle this Traction Tuesday in this second part of a 2 part share.
𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟮 questions our vision for rural and regional Australia. What matters most to you, your community, your industry, your region?
Too often we are handed down plans (sometimes in the disguise of funding) from higher, unelected and unaccountable bodies who simply have no genuine care for our future. When global strategies get filtered down through Federal Government policy, through State Government Plans and show up knocking on our communities door - we know there is a problem. Our future is in the hands of “Central Planning” departments and not in the hands of the people who live here, the people that care and work for their community and seek to protect their heritage, their lands and water and their people.
🔨 What if we were to work towards a collective vision, one that leads confidently to a safer, more secure and sustainable future for our future generations? What would that take?
✅ What if that vision included being able to access a Dr as quick as we can a vet?
✅ Having a “family” GP?
✅ Having nurses and teachers that weren’t underpaid and burnt out?
✅ Having government funded universities that deliberately and diligently worked towards filling the skills and professionals we need to sustain our regions in the future?
✅ Having farms that weren’t burdened with new and increasing excess regulation and costs eg. NLIS tags
✅ Having farms that could make money and not have to rely or fall back on equity?
✅ Supporting small to medium businesses, so they can thrive and trade into the future, offering secure local employment and providing necessary supplies to keep local, rural industries doing what they do?
✅ Utilising our own resources to power our nation affordably and responsibly first?
✅ Managing taxpayer dollars responsibly and working to pay down our National debt?
The list really is endless, and the opportunities give hope… but first, what is our role to play? Do we keep doing what we’ve always done and getting what we’ve always got? Or do we step up and face the fear, take a risk and change the way we do things, so we can bring about a change in outcomes?
🎯 The choice is up to every one of us.
⌛️ The day to make that choice is May the 3rd.
