Sovereignty Summit 7: Exposing the Hidden Traps in the WHO’s Pandemic Treaty

From April 7 to 11, the World Health Organization’s International Negotiating Body (INB) is meeting one last time to attempt to reach an agreement on the Pandemic Treaty, which will be voted on in the upcoming World Health Assembly May 27 to June 1 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Like the Amended International Health Regulations passed at the WHA last June, the draft Pandemic Treaty is fraught with threats to our national sovereignty and personal medical freedom.  Although the United States and Argentina have withdrawn from the WHO, the rest of the world has not – and remains subject to these threats.  Moreover, WHO shenanigans will affect all nations, whether they are members or not.

What risks, for example, are posed by the Pandemic Treaty’s commitment to “prevent misinformation and disinformation”?  What are the risks posed to intellectual property rights and the financial costs associated with belonging to the WHO?  Could the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing (PABS) system lead to greatly multiplied risks of lab leaks and/or the proliferation of biological warfare agents leading to new pandemics – pandemics which predictably will spread to all nations, regardless of whether they are members of the WHO?  Is the “One Health” approach a pretext for surveilling all aspects of life on earth?  And, importantly, what can be done to prevent this?
