Cheryl and Ken discuss the disastrous Ways and Means Committee approving a 386 page 📄 Property Tax Reform. A member of the committee is Tim Obrien, an elected official from VANDERBURGH County. O’Brien was given a mandate by voters to overhaul the property tax system; he failed miserably by ignoring his constituents. Voters are encouraged to contact Braun’s office and demand a veto of the proposed legislation as it maneuvers through the legislature.

The conversation continues in the investigation what elected officials pay for their current property taxes and provide the website link. Former Mayor Winnecke, Wendy McNamara, Vaneta Becker, Tim Obrien, and city council members.

Half of the city council apparently reside at the mayors office, their listed address on the city website is MLK Blvd rather than a traditional home in their ward. In one instance the city website lists a fake address for a councilman that does not exist; typo or intentional.

Tim Obrien, per the auditors office, redacted his address from the search. His public campaign finance report and “walking list” from the election office provides an address at 6501 E Oak Street, Evansville. The address and name does not exist on the website. The home 🏠 exists. Hovering over the website reveals a tax code and property tax assessment, but no name of ownership. O’Brien received a 2023 vs 2024 six month increase of $1.49; yep a $1.49 six month increase. There are examples of VANDERBURGH County residents property taxes doubling.

O’Brien purposely supported the proposal for property tax relief in the Ways and Means. Disgraceful! He avoids his constituents in favor of lobbyists and special interest.
