Squid Game season 3 will wrap up the South Korean version of the series, and it has one character perfectly positioned to end the games, but it isn't Gi-hun. Squid Game took the world by storm when it first began airing on Netflix in 2021, with an extraordinary death games premise that was not popular in Western media up to that point. However, thanks to it being featured on a global platform, it managed to gain an audience that took it from being an obscure title to something that literally everyone was talking about.

Now, years after the show began, the series is due to enter its third and final season of the South Korean show before other spin-offs begin to appear. And while the story has featured Gi-hun prominently as the central character and protagonist, the focus shifted somewhat throughout season 2 to another character who may be the solution to shutting down the games. And unlike the other players, they don't need to win the games to survive to the end and make a difference.
