Water to wine (2:1-11).Healing the royal official’s son (4:46-54).Healing the paralytic (5:1-15).Feeding the 5000 (6:1-14).Walking on water (6:16-24).Healing a man born blind (9:1-7).Raising Lazarus (11:1-45).The catch of fish (21:6).
The Son (Yeshua) gives life to whom HE is pleased to give it. Who these people are is now presented in different terms: Whoever hears MY Word and believes HIM Who sent ME has eternal life and will not be condemned.
As the Words and actions of the Son are the Words and actions of the Father, so faith placed in the Son is faith placed in the Father Who sent HIM. JOH 10:30, “I and the Father are one.”
COL 1:13-14, For HE has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son HE loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
John clearly writes of a final resurrection that will come for all. For believers, eternity with GOD in Heaven. To those who do not believe, everlasting life in Hell. There is NO OTHER option, no purgatory.
This was understood by the Jews or should have been understood in light of DEU 19:15, by the mouth of two or three witnesses the matter shall be established. Yeshua testifies about HIMself, GOD the Father testifies about HIM and of course we had John the Baptist.
The witness here is John the Baptist, who came to bear witness to the true light (we saw that in Ch 1). Not only was John a witness of Yeshua to the delegation sent by the religious leaders in Jerusalem, but he had also publicly identified Yeshua as the Lamb of GOD.
People are saved by believing in Yeshua, not John the Baptist. John the Baptist’s witness may help them believe: That was its purpose and therefore Yeshua’s mention of John as a witness is justified. Although the Baptist was not the true light, he was a light-bearer, a lamp, a witness to the true light Yeshua.
JOH 3:22, And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon HIM (Yeshua), and a Voice came from Heaven which said, “You are MY beloved Son; in You I am well pleased. ”LUK 9:34-35, While Peter was speaking, a cloud appeared and enveloped them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. And a Voice camte out of the cloud, saying, “This is MY beloved Son. Hear HIM”
