Roots Beneath Me

I call the roots, I call the flame,
I call the sky, I speak the name.
All that was, all that will be—
Rise now through the roots beneath me.

Earth is trembling under skin,
Let the sacred walk begin.
Eyes are closed, but I can see—
The wind, the fire, the memory.

Ho ya hey… ho ya ha…
Circle wide, spirit draw.
Ho ya hey… ho ya ha…
Open heart, drop the law.

Water flows through bone and breath,
Life is woven into death.
Feather falls, the rattle spins,
The soul remembers where it’s been.

Ho ya hey… ho ya ho…
I am storm, I am flow.
Ho ya hey… ho ya ho…
Take me where I need to go.

Bear and serpent, tree and flame,
Speak through me and say your name.
I offer smoke, I offer sound—
My body kneels on sacred ground.

Now I rise, but not alone,
The song, the stone, become my own.
Drum is heart and fire is breath—
I walk with spirit, past all death.

Ho ya hey…
Ho ya ho…
Ho ya hey…
Let it flow…
