Congestion pricing generates significant revenue for cities that implement it.

In New York City, the MTA collected about $48.66 million in the first 27 days after launching its congestion pricing program in January 2025, with projected annual revenue around $500 million.

London’s congestion charge, in place since 2003, brought in £155.9 million in net revenue during the 2017–2018 fiscal year.

These funds are typically reinvested into public transportation and urban infrastructure improvements.
