SATN Episode 357: Paul Kamenar

In March 2020, Paul Kamenar, a longtime fixture of the Washington, DC legal community, was named NLPC Counsel.

Paul had already been in the spotlight for NLPC through his representation of Andrew Miller who had been subpoenaed as a witness in the investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Miller’s refusal to testify allowed for a Constitutional challenge to Mueller’s appointment and authority. NLPC sponsored Paul’s representation of Andrew.

Although the challenge was not successful, Paul made a number of arguments undermining Mueller’s legal authority that received extensive media attention. The case reached the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, the second highest court in the land, but fell short of the Supreme Court. Important constitutional issues raised by Paul remain unresolved that are sure to resurface in the future.
