Another Deer Hunt

Randy shares another public land mule deer hunt story with you. He rode Festus, his mule, leading Doc, his fox trotter horse, for riding and packing. It was cold, snow on the ground and in the area where the 1988 Yellowstone fires, that burned into the Shoshone National Forest, where this hunt takes place.
He uses his custom 7mmx.404 rifle built on a Win. pre-64 Mod 70 action, the second .404 he ever built, so that has been many, many years ago!
The thumbnail is a photo taken by Cathy: “Bucky” a mule deer buck that came in here for 13 years to winter, the first time as a solid 4x5. This photo was taken his last year before succumbing to old age.
