The passage begins with a jubilant celebration following the fall of Babylon, a response to the divine command to rejoice over her. The people in heaven express their thanksgiving, "Alleluia," meaning "Praise the Lord." The four elders and four beasts worship God, saying, "Amen; Alleluia." This exultation is a response to God's avenging of their actions.
