For this review, I set out to analyze why Kingdom Hearts is so good. This is something that has puzzled me for a long time. I actually only recently played every game in the Kingdom Hearts series, so it can't just be childhood nostalgia. I actually beat this game for the first time in 2013. I feel like I've figured it out, though. I cracked the code on this polarizing game.

This story is unbelievably complicated and I tried to get by without giving too many spoilers away. I'll be reviewing Kingdom Hearts 2 in just a couple of months, so hopefully I'll be able to go into more depth with the story there. I know I show some things that occur later in the game, but I really tried not to talk about spoilers or anything during this review, which made it really hard. Most of the story to this game is revealed late. I did my best to make this review good, while not explicitly giving away too much of the story and events that occur.

Mixing the worlds of Final Fantasy and Disney has to be one of the craziest ideas I've ever heard. I can't believe that it actually happened. I'm glad, though! This game almost didn't happen.

Kingdom Hearts is followed up by Kingdom Hearts II. I am only reviewing the key games in the series, not the side games. I will incorporate Chain of Memories and other similar games in my Kingdom Hearts 2 review. In this review, I tried to keep it just about Kingdom Hearts 1. It wasn't easy, and I failed at parts, but this is supposed to just be a review and analysis of the first Kingdom Hearts video game. Action RPG. That's where it's at.
