High Noon (1952)

Still in his impeccable wedding suit, the blissful newlywed and Hadleyville's retiring lawman, Marshal Will Kane, receives news that his implacable nemesis, Frank Miller, a convicted murderer, has been pardoned. Due in on the noon train, Miller is hell-bent on keeping his word: kill the man who put him behind bars, with the help of his murderous, three-member gang. But, bound by his noble, high moral principles, Kane refuses to hand in his tin star, against the will of his pacifist Quaker wife, Amy Fowler, only to face the inhabitants' shocking unwillingness to stand by him.
