This is a TV Speaker, a thing I had never heard of before, although I do have a TV sound bar. In fact, it might better be described as being a wireless FM radio and speaker with a range of audio inputs available from a USB-C powered charging hub transmitter.

In the attractive packaging, I received the 17.4 x 6 x 12.6 cm, 636 g speaker, along with optical, audio jack and coaxial cables. Also included was a USB-C charging cable with a mains adapter and a rather small and hard to read but informative user guide. Build quality all seems fine and the product does have something of a premium feel to it.

The speaker itself is reminiscent of an old style transistor radio in its design, made entirely of ABS plastic with a built in handle below which are the two speakers and a small LCD status display screen. On the top are proper clicky buttons for on/off, forward, back TV, Bluetooth, FM radio, and menu/SOS Mode. There is a three way slider for EQ presets and a rotary dial for volume and radio tuning. On one side is a grommet protected bay housing two 3.5mm jack audio outlets and a USB-C charging port. On the back is an extendable radio aerial and on the bottom are lugs and pogo pin connectors to the base unit.

The base unit attaches neatly to the speaker but does not lock in place allowing the speaker to be detached for remote use leaving the audio and power cables to the hub in place. The speaker can be remounted on the hub to recharge and to access its' audio sources directly. It can be removed from the hub without losing audio as the hub and speaker are linked wirelessly. You can roam the house listening to audio sources attached to the base unit.

The speaker contains a 2000mAh lithium battery which can be charged when positioned on the dock or directly using the USB-C port in the slide bay. Charging either way takes around 3 hours and gives up to 8 hours of operation.

The speaker has a permanent wireless connection to the dock but can also access Bluetooth audio sources using the pairing name "Technaxx TX-317".

Operation is simple and easy. Press the red button to power on, one of the top row buttons to select your audio source, use the slider to select the EQ preset and the rotary dial for the volume. The yellow button gives access to the settings, which you probably never need to use as this thing works straight from the box. Long press the yellow button to access the SOS siren.

Sound quality is excellent for the size and the unit features a three position EQ slider on the top to cut or boost bass. It is not super loud but probably as loud as you can expect for the size without losing audio fidelity.

This is a small sized speaker capable of accessing a wide range of audio sources, including most TVs, that is simple and easy to use. It is not cheap at €99,00but it is often worth paying a bit more for quality.
