Minecraft 1.18.2 | Hardcore | World 5 | No-F3 | RSG | UA System Module Fabpack

I find myself in a Birch forest adjacent to a Dark Oak forest that has so many hsss booms hanging out in it, so it’s not exactly the worst place to start for a world. I just don’t consent to surprise hugs from mobs with no arms that have explodey personalities.

My iconic hardcore base design makes its first appearance. It’s something of a mix of a variety of smaller central European castles and palaces, such as Niedzica Castle (Dunajec Castle) and smaller Tyrolean castles. All my farms, trading hall, and storage are safely underground, and the sleeping position is elevated enough that mob spawns don’t interrupt my beauty sleep (yet still low enough I can aggro them into approaching and safely snipe them from the roof).

The presence of a skeleton spawner under the main base building is something new, though.

I’d like to think I’ve learned something (debatable) from my earlier playthroughs, so this time when I get hints of a rather large cave system nearby, I need to stay away until I’m properly armoured. Or else I’ll have the same fate as Hardcore World 4 (where I was still armoured…).

When I do enter the cave system I’m rewarded with some great discoveries, and go so far as to set up a forward base in the cave. Since I’m playing without F3, it’s not until I establish some Nether portals that I start to wonder if I’m not actually right beneath my base…

Doubts about just how nice the RNG was creep in when I can’t find a lot of biome variety in the Overworld, and the hunt for structures in the Nether is largely fruitless. And I’m stuck in so much Crimson Forest.

To prove that I haven’t learned very well from past experience, I spend some time actually considering what a Wandering Trader has to offer, only to have it be my downfall for this world.
