DEI and Higher Education

The biggest problem I have with Democrats, is their messaging.

Or, to be specific, their lack of it.

Republicans are able to paint a demonizing portrait of Democrats, because Democrats make it so easy.

A few years ago, it was Critical Race Theory.

Republicans took the term and ran with it, not even understanding what CRT is.

Now, it’s DEI, Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion.

What does that mean?

Basically, say you’re a company in need of workers.

Every year, you go to Harvard, and recruit a dozen people.

But, one year, someone suggests you also recruit from Stanford, and lo and behold, you discover that, hey, Stanford has a couple excellently-qualified folk for your business!

Who knew?

All you did was expand the scope of your search, and you found something new.

That’s all DEI is, only replace “Stanford” with “Hey, let’s see what Black and woman candidates have to offer.”

I think people confuse DEI with quotas.

A quota is: “Well, we need so many people that check this box, so even though this other candidate is more qualified, he doesn’t help us meet our quota, so he gets passed over for a less qualified person.”

See the difference?

Most don’t.

Because Democrats are horrible at messaging.
